Canaba
Canaba ( Canabae pluralez; iturrietan pluralean agertzen da) [1] latinezko hitza, jatorriz etxolak izendatzeko erabiltzen zen baina Hadrianoren garaian [2] erromatar legionarien kanpamenduaren kanpo aldeko (castrum) [3] etxolak eta dendak ziren. Deborak aurrera egin ahala, etxolen pilaketa hori sendoagoa eta iraunkorragoa bilakatzen bazen, egitura urbanoak eraikiko zituzten bere bizilagunek. Batzuek Erdi Arora arte iraun eta egungo hiriak dira, Viena hiria kasu, Vindobonako limeseko kanpamenduaren inguruan sortu zena.
Batzuetan, canabae eta vicus hitzak nahasten dira eta aglomerazio mota berdina izendatzeko erabiltzen dira.
