DNA txertoa belaunaldi berriko txertoa da, mikroorganismo patogeno baten gene batzuez osaturik dagoena. DNA hori plasmido moduan dago, hau da molekula biribila da, eta txertoa hartzen duten ugaztunen zeluletan ez da bikoiztuko, eta ez da kromosometan integratuko. Aldiz, kodifikatzen dituen antigeno mikrobianoak adieraziko dira, eta erantzun inmune espezifikoa bultzatuko da.[1] Albaitaritzan mota honetako txerto batzuk baliatzen diren arren, bat ere ez da onarturik giza erabilpenerako. 2016an, zika sukarrari aurrea hartzeko DNA txerto baten lehenbiziko proba klinikoak egin ziren.[2]
