Erariko (541n hila) denbora labur batez ostrogodoen erregea izan zen, ostrogodoekin konfederazioan zeuden errugiar boteretsuena izateagatik aukeratua. Aukeraketa Ildibaldo, aurreko erregea, konspirazio baten ondoren eman zen; ez dakigu Erariko parte hartu zuen ala ez. Noblezia ostrogodoa aukeraketarekin haserretu bazen ere, ez dakigu zergatik, Erarikoren aukeraketa errekonozitu zuen.[1] Erarikok kontseilu bat deitu zuen ostrogodoak eta bere aliatuak Justiniano enperadorearekin bakeak egiteko konbentzitzeko, ostrogodoen erresuma bizantziarren menpe kokatuz, baina oraindik entitate politiko bezala mantenduz. Ostrogodoek bakearen aurka egin zuten, eta Ildibaldoren iloba Totila errege aukeratu zuten. Handik gutxira Totilaren jarraitzaileek Erariko hil zuten, bost hilabeteko erregealdiaren ondoren.[2]
