Frankenthal Alemaniako Renania-Palatinatua estatu federaleko hiria da. Rhin-Neckar eremuaren barnean dago eta 46.793 biztanle ditu (2010).
Historia
Lehenengo aldiz 772ko dokumentu batean aipatzen da Franconodal izenarekin. 1119an Agustindarren monasterio bat eraiki zen, gaur egun hondarrak baino gelditzen ez diren arren. XVI mendean Herbeheretatik ihesi zetozen 58 familia kalvinista etorri ziren eta hiriari garapena eman zioten, bai industriari dagokionez eta baita artearen arloan ere, esate baterako Frankenthaler Malerschule (margo-eskola) sortu zuten. XVII mendean Hogeita Hamar Urteko Gerrak kalte larriak eragin zizkion eta 1689an frantziarrek hiria erre zuten.
Bigarren Mundu Gerrako bonbaketek hiriaren %90a suntsitu zuten. Amerikarrek hartu zuten Frankenthal baina ondoren Frantziako Okupazio eremuan gelditu zen.
