Gel
Gela sistema koloidal bat da, non fase jarraitua solidoa den eta sakabanatua likidoa[1]. Gelek, likidoen antzeko dentsitatea dute, baina euren egiturak, solido batenaren antz handiagoa du[2]. Gel adibide klasiko bat gelatina da.
Gel batzuek egoera koloidal batetik bestera igarotzeko gaitasuna dute, hau da, jariakorrak izaten dira mugitzen direnean eta solidotu egiten dira geldirik daudenean. Ezaugarri honi tixotropia deitzen zaio. Gel bat sortzeko prozesuari gelazioa deritzo.
Likidoa gasarekin ordezkatuz, aerogelak, dentsitate oso baxuko, porositate handiko eta isolamendu termiko bikaineko propietateak dituzten materialak sor daitezke.
