Gregor Sickinger 1558an jaio zen, beharbada, Suitzako Solothurn hirian, eta 1631n Solothurnen hil zen.
Bost anai-arreba zituen, eta berriro ezkondu zen lehen emaztea hil ondoren. Sickingerrek zurezko grabatuekin lan egin zuen batez ere, askotan liburuetako ilustrazioetan erabiliak. Dirurik gabe hil zen 1631n.[1]
Ezaguna da, batez ere, neurketetan oinarrituta egindako hirien ikuspegiengatik: 1582ko Friburgo Breisgauren lumari koloreztatutako marrazki bat, 1589ko Friburgo Breisgauren kobrean grabatuak, 1591ko Soleurako mapa desagertu bat, 1603-1607 bitarteko Bernako mapa bat, zeinaren kopiak baino ez dauden.[2]
