Hipokotilo
Hipokotiloa hazi batetik ernetzen den landarearen zati bati erreferentzia egiteko erabiltzen den botanikako hitza da.
Enbriogenesia gertatzen denean, enbrioia ernaltzean hazten den heinean, agerraldi bat (erradikula) bidaltzen du, lurra sartzean sustrai nagusi bihurtuko dena. Erradikularen irteeraren ondoren, hipokotiloa azaleratzen da plantulako apexa (eta, normalean, haziaren bilgarria ere bai) lurraren mailatik altxatuz, enbrioi-hostoak ("kotiledoi" deituak) eta benetako lehen hostoak sortzen dituen "plumula" bultatuz. Hipokotiloa plantularen lehen hedapen-organoa da, eta zurtoina osatu arte garatzen da.
