Iragarmena zientifikoki demostratu gabeko zentzumenez kanpoko pertzepzio mota bat da. Horren bitartez, zenbait pertsonak etorkizunean gerta daitezkeen gertaeren gaineko informazioa jaso dezakete. Pertzepzio mota hori dutenak ikusmendun izena dute. Ikusmendun askok erlijioarekin lotura zuzena izan dute, esaterako ustezko Ama Birjinaren agerraldiekin lotuta egon direnak. Beste motatako ikusmendunak parapsikologiaren munduarekin lotura izan dute, askotan mediumen bitartez. Dena dela, historikoki, horrelako fenomenoak kultura guztietan ezagutu dira. Euskal Herrian, XX.mendearen erdian, Maritxu Güller, "Uliako sorgina" bezala ezagututa, oso ezaguna izan zen.[1]
