Izamal (maia hizkuntzan Itzamal ‘Zerutik erortzen den ihintza’ da) izen bereko udalerriaren hiri txiki bat da, Mexikoko Yucatán estatuaren erdi-erdian kokatua, Meridatik (Estatuko hiriburua) 70 kilometro ekialdera. INEGIren 2020ko erroldaren arabera, urte horretan 18 mila biztanle inguru zituen. Biztanle gehienak jatorriz maiak dira, bi hizkuntzatan elebidunak: maia-gaztelania.
"Muinoen hiria" deitzen zaio, bere lurraldean aztarna arkeologiko garrantzitsuak dituelako; horien artean, tamaina handiko bost piramide handi, denbora luzez, aztertu baino lehen, bertakoek "muinotzat" hartzen zituztenak. 2002an Izamal Mexikoko Herri Magikoak programako zerrendan sartu zen, Yucatán estatuan izendapen hori jaso zuen lehena izanik. 2008tik, Mexikoko Gizateriaren Ondare izateko zerrenda indikatiboan dago.

Katolikoentzako erlijio-erromesaldi tokia da Izamal. Izamalgo komentuan dagoen Andre Mariaren sortze garbia Birjinaren tenpluko erretaula nagusiko burua Yucatango zaindari izendatu dute eta abenduaren 8an jai herrikoi batekin ospatzen dute.
