Kamauroa [1] (italieraz, camauro, latinezko Camelaucum hitzetik, eta hau grezieratik: Kamelauchion, ‘gamelu-ilezko txanoa’) tradizioz Eliza katolikoaren aita santuak eraman izan duen txano bat da.
Kamauroa gorria da, eta erbinude zuriaren larruz egindako ertza du. Alde gorria artilezkoa edo belusezkoa izaten da. Neguko hotzean eramatekoa da, kalota zuriaren gainean, baina ez da erabiltzekoa zeremonia liturgikoetan.[2]
Joan XXIII.a aita santu izendatu zutenean kamauroa erabiltzeari utzi zitzaion, baina Benedikto XVI.ak berreskuratu zuen[1] 2005eko amaieran, bere agintaldiko lehen urtean, abenduko audientzia orokorretan. Baina gero ez zuen berriro erabili. Liburu bilakatu zen elkarrizketa batean esan zuen hotzetik babesteko jantzi zuela, eta ez zuela berriro erabili keinu horren beste interpretaziorik sor ez zedin.[3]
