Kanan Indiako tigre eme basati bat izan zen, 1967ko urtarrilaren 4an zooko itxitura batera salto egin zuena, tigre ar batek erakarrita. Kananek bere askatasuna sakrifikatu zuen nahigabean Pradeep tigre gatibuak erakarrita, eta zooko itxituran sartu zen Bhubaneswar hiriko -Nandankanan zooan, Odisha estatuan, Ekialdeko Indian.
Pradeepek ez zuen Kanan onartu bikote gisa, Sikha izeneko kideko bat baitzuen. Eta Kananek ere ez zuen beste arrik onartu zooan bizi izan zen bitartean. Nandankanan zooan bertan hil zen 1968ko uztailaren 21ean.[1] Zooko plaza batek haren izena darama.
2013. urtean, beste tigre batek (Nandan arra kasu honetan) egin zuen salto oihanetik Bubhaneshwarko zoo barrura, toki berean. Ar hau hobetu egokitu zen, eta kumeak izan ditu eme batzuekin.[2]
