Kuple XX. mendearen hasieratik bi mundu-gerren arteko aldi arte kantatzen ziren kanta arin eta melodia errazekoak izendatzeko erabiltzen den hitza da.[1] Hasieran kabaretetan sortua, 1920ko hamarkadan publiko guztietara zabaldu zen.[2] Izena frantsesezko couplet hitzetik dator, bertso pare esan nahi duena.
