Malpais
Geomorfologian, malpais (hitzez hitzezko, lurralde txarra) edo herritxar bat erliebe-mota bat da, gutxi higatutako arrokak ditu ezaugarri (hala ere, herritxar zaharra higatuago dago, eta berria, gutxiago), garmendiko jatorrikoa, ingurune lehorrean. Munduan zehar eremu askotan deskribatu dira, baina Ameriketako Estatu Batuetako hego-mendebaldearekin lotuta dago, paisaia horri bere izena eman zioten kolono espainiarren presentziaren ondorioz[1][2] (nazioartean gaztelaniatik datorren izena erabiltzen da). Inguru berean dauden arroka sedimentarioen higadurak sortzen dituen antza izan dezakeen arren, herritxar bat sumendiko eremu batean bakarrik sortzen da.
Herritxarretan erraz ikus daitezke laba-isuriak, kono bolkanikoak eta kolapsatutako hodi bolkanikoak dituzte. Zeharkatzen zailak diren eremuak dira, eta nekazaritzarako ez dira erabilgarriak. Eremu horietan landaretza mugatua da, lur gutxi dagoelako.
