Moretum gazta igurtzigarri moduko bat da, Antzinako Erromako plater batzuei laguntzeko erabiltzen zena. Ongailu edo saltsa mota bat da. Osagaiak motrailu (latinez: mortarium) batean birrintzen zituzten, eta haren izena hortik hartu zuen.[1]
Appendix Vergiliana lanean, izenak adierazten duen bezala Virgiliori egozten zaion obran, moretumaren osagaiak belar onak, baratxuria, gazta, ozpina, oliba-olioa eta gatza zirela eta nekazarien gosaria zela esaten da.[2]
