Neokortexa (latinetik geruza berria) batzuetan neopallium (estalki berria) edo isokortex (geruza berdina) ugaztunen burmuinaren ataletako bat da. Burmuinaren bi hemisferioen kanpoko geruza da eta sei geruza txikiagoz osatua dago, Ietik VIra izendatuak. VI. geruza da barrualderago dagoena eta I. geruza kanpokoena. Neokortexa burmuinaren kortexaren atal bat da, artxikortex eta paleokortexarekin batera. Pertzepzio sentsorialaren goiko funtzioekin harremanetan dago, higidurak sorrarazten ditu, arrazoitze espazialaz arduratzen da eta kontzientzia zein hizkuntza sortzen ditu.
