Ortosa edo ortoklasa silikatoen taldeko minerala da, tektosilikatoen azpitaldean eta azpitalde horretan feldespatoen artean sailkatua. Ortosaren formula kimikoa K(AlSi3O8) da. Arroka igneoak eratzen ditu, eta lurrazalean oso mineral arrunta da. Feldespato edo feldespato ortosa izenez ere ezaguna da, baina izen horiek ez dira zuzenak, ez dutelako zehazki mineral hau aipatzen, baizik eta ortosa parte den mineral talde osoa.
Sistema monoklinikoan kristaltzen da. Azidoek ez diote erasotzen, azido fluorhidrikoak izan ezik. Eguratseko eragileek deskonposatzen dute pixkana-pixkana. Karbono dioxido gasa duen uraren eraginez, ortosaren potasa kaolin bihurtzen da.
Pisu espezifikoa 2,5 eta 2,6 g/cm3 bitartekoa du, eta gogortasuna 6 eta 6,5 bitartekoa, Mohs eskalan. Kolorea zuri-grisaxka edo arrosa du; ezagutzen den mineralik arruntenetako eta ugarienetarikoa da, eta arroka igneoen osagai nagusia da. Granitoan aurkitzen da. Ortosaren aldaera garden eta horixkak bitxigintzan erabiltzen dira.
