Ostea (latinetik, hostis, “etsai”), Erdi Aroan, errege, jaun feudal edo kontzeju baten armada zen, espedizio militar bat egiteko antolatzen zena; errege eta jaun feudalen basailuak, edo kontzejuko bizilagunak, behartuak ziren bertan parte hartzera, baldintza jakin batzuetan. XIV. mendeko Nafarroako Foru Orokorraren arabera, infantzoiek hiru egunetako jangaiak eraman behar zituten armadara; hirugarren egunetik aurrera, etxera itzul zitezkeen. Borrokan segitzea erabakitzen bazuten, erregearen gain zegoen jatekoa ordaintzea. Bilauen zerbitzua, berriz, doakoa eta etengabekoa zen, gudaldia amaitu arte.[1]
