Remscheid XII mendean sortu bazen ere XIX menderarte herri txikia baino ez zen izan, harik eta Ruhr eremuaren garapenaren eraginpean sartu zen arte. Remscheiden konkretuki injeniaritza mekanikoarekin eta erreminta lanketarekin loturiko lantegiak sortu ziren.
