Ruapehu (ingelesez ˈruːəˌpeɪhuː eta maorieraz ˈɾʉaˌpɛhʉ ahoskatua) Zeelanda Berriako andesitazko geruza-sumendi aktiboa da, Ipar uhartean dagoena. Gainera, uharte horretako mendirik garaiena da, eta tontor nagusiak (Tahurangi izenekoa) 2.797 metroko altuera du,[1] Te Heuheu (2.755 m) eta Paretetaitonga (2.751 m) bigarren mailako bi tontorrekin. Ohakunetik 23 kilometro ipar-ekialdera eta Taupō aintzirako hegoaldeko kostaldetik 40 kilometro hego-mendebaldera dago, Tongariro Parke Nazionalaren barruan.
Erupzioen ondorioz, sumendiak laku bat dauka bere kraterrean. Bere hegaletan, Ipar Uharteko glaziar eta eski-pista handienak daude.
Lehen erupzioa duela 250.000 urte gertatu zen gutxienez. Bere historian, erupzio handiak berrogeita hamar urte inguruko aldearekin gertatu dira, 1895, 1945 eta 1995/96 urteetan.[2]

Zinema
Ruapehu mendiaren magaletan filmatu zituzten Peter Jacksonek zuzendutako The Lord of the Rings trilogia zinematografikoaren Emyn Muil filmeko eszenak. Mordor eta Orodruingo eszenak ere bertan grabatu zituzten.[4] Erebor, Mendi Bakartia, ere irudikatu zuen The Hobbit saileko filmetan.
