Salbagerrikoa[1] itsas inguruetan segurtasun neurria bezala derrigorrezko erabilerako flotagailu mota bat da. Nazioarteko itunen arabera, itsasontzi mota askotan eraman beharreko tresna da itsasoan galduak jasotzeko eta ur gainean mantentzeko. Itsasertzeko leku askotan ere derrigorrezkoak dira, esaterako portuetan, itsas pasealekuetan... Baita ere igerilekuetan.
Normalean, toroide itxura dute eta soka batez lotuta daude. Sokaren bidez uretan dagoen pertsona lehorrera altxa daiteke. Batzutan, argitxoak edo zerrenda islatzaileak izaten dituzte, argi gutxi dagoenean haren posizioa ezagutzeko.
