Tuba haize instrumentuen arteko ahots-apalena da. Tuba tenorra, tuba baxua eta tuba kontrabaxua dira nagusiak. Gehienetan orkestretan tuba bat besterik ez da izaten.
Deskribapena
Aho moduko mutur handi batez bukatzen den tutu koniko zabala du. Tubaren tutuak ia zazpi metroko luzera dauka. Lau edo bost balbula izan ohi ditu, baina badaude sei pistoiko tubak ere. Hasiberrientzako hiru balbulako tubak ere ekoizten dira.
Tubak ia lau oktabako hedadura du.
Historia
Tuba 1835ean jo zuten lehen aldiz orkestra batean. Instrumentu honek XIX. mendean izan zuen aurrerabiderik handiena, eta tubaren aurrekariek (serpentoia eta ofikleidoa) baino hots apal indartsuagoa eman zion orkestrari.
