Utika[1] iparraldeko Afrikan eratutako lehendabiziko feniziar kolonia izan zen, Kartagotik ipar-mendebaldean, Mejerda ibaiaren bokalean zegoena.[2] Izena fenizierazko ˁattiq (egungo arabierazko عُتَيقة eta hebreerazko עתיק hitzen baliokidea) hitzetik dator, "[hiri] zaharra" esan nahi duena, Kartago "hiri berria" esan nahi duen moduan.[3]
K.a. 146 eta 25 artean, Afrika Prokontsularra erromatar probintziako hiriburua izan zen.
