WebM bideo-edukiontzi formatu irekia da. Googlek sustatu zuen garapena HTML5 hizkuntzako web orrietan formatu irekia eta konprimitua erabiltzeko. Nabigatzaile guztiek erraz erauzi eta erabiltzeko formatua da.
2010eko maiatzean aurkeztutako formatu hau Matroshka formatuan oinarritzen da eta bere osagaiak VP8 bideo kodeka eta Vorbis audio kodeka dira. Software libreko proiektua da eta BSD lizentzia du.
Patentatutako h.264 eta MPEG-4 formatuen alternatiba erabiliena da formatu irekien artean. Erabilpen komertziala eta ez komertziala izan du. Wikimedia Commonsen erabili ohi da.
