کمبود این آنزیم با بروز کمخونی همولیتیک، ضعف و درد عضلانی و میوپاتی در ارتباط است.[۴]بیان ژنALDOA در چندین نوع سرطان از جمله سرطان ریه (نوع اسکوآموس)، تومور کلیه و سرطان بدخیم کبد بشدت بالا میرود. در مورد سرطان ریه، افزایش این آنزیم با احتمالاً بالای متاستاز و پیشآگهی بدتر همراه بودهاست و بنابراین بهطور بالقوه میتوانند یک نشانگر زیستیِ تشخیصی و یکی از اهداف احتمالی دارودرمانی باشد.[۵]
