Tiare
Ko te tiare (i te reo Tonga: siale, i te reo Tahiti: tiare, i te reo Hamoa: tiale) he tētahi puninga rākau whakatuputupu ki ngā whenua pārūrū ki te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa me Āhia. Ko te ingoa pūtaiao he Gardenia.[1] He rongonui te momo tipu tiare māori (Gardenia taitensis)[2] nō tēnei puninga.
Ka whakamahia te tāngata Tahiti me ngā pua tiare māori ki te nahanaha o te hei. Ka whakiwhakia hoki ana pua i te āpiti kakara mō te monoʻi tiare hangaia mai hinu o te hua niu,[3] o te namunamuā i te aihikirimi.[4]
