Amtrak es una entrepresa ferroviària publica americana, especializada dins lo transpòrt de viatjaires. Creada lo 1er de mai de 1971, Amtrak a l'estatut d'una entrepresa comerciala, mai es entierament contrarotlada per lo govèrn deis Estats Units. Lo nom d'Amtrak siguèt creat per la contraccion dei mots America e track (camin ferrat). La rason sociala de l'entrepresa publica qu'administra Amtrak es National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Societat Nacionala dei Transpòrts Ferroviaris de Viatjaires).
