Artis Leon Ivey Jr., dich Coolio, nascut lo 1èr d'agost de 1963 a Monessen en Pensilvània (Estats Units) e mòrt lo 28 de setembre de 2022 a Los Angeles (Califòrnia)[1], èra un rapaire anglofòn american, tanben productor e actor.
Son nom de scèna proven d'una remarca d'un de sos amics, que li disián per se trufar que semblava a « Coolio Iglesias » quand cantava a la faiçon d'un crooner (en referéncia al cantaire espanhòl Julio Iglesias). S'es fach conéisser dins lo monde entièr en 1995 gràcias al tube colossal Gangsta's Paradise, un tròç rap basat sus un escapolon de la cançon Pastime Paradise de Stevie Wonder.
Gangsta's Paradise figura dins la benda sonòra del filme Esprits rebelles (ambe l'actritz Michelle Pfeiffer).
Lo 2 d'octobre de 1995, Coolio publica son segond album sòlo, Gangsta's Paradise, que conten los singles Too hot e 1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin' New).
Coma actor, a jogat dins qualques films americans coma Dear God (1996), Batman e Robin (1997), Scary Scream Movie (2000) o encara Daredevil (2003).
