Lo Conselh de Lenga Occitana recomanda l'ortografia dimars e admet la varianta dimarts perque certanei parlars locals pronóncian la ‹t›. Loís Alibèrt escriu ben dimars dins son tractat de gramatica. La grafia dimarç* es desconselhada perque ven d'una error d'impression dins lo diccionari d'Alibèrt.
Etimologia
La paraula «dimars» proven del latin dies Martis, significant «dia/jorn de Mart». Èra dedicat al dieu roman Mart. Se pòt abracar coma «dt» o «dm».
La tradicion europèa l'a totjorn vist coma un jorn de malastrada. Anticament, Las gents evitava de complir d'accions importantas #coma se maridar, se far la mar o batiar los sieus filhs. Qualques supersticions senhalan los dimars tretze cossí coma los mai perilhoses pel benastre en totes los senses.
