Dins la mitologia grèga, Eracles (grèc ancian: Ἡρακλῆς, Hēraklēs, lit. «glòria d'Èra) o Ercules (latin: Hercules) foguèt un mièg-dieu e eròi, filh de Zèus e de la mortala Alcmèna, e lo filhastre d'Anfitriòn. Acomplissèt los dotze trabalhs. Segon la legenda, s'enamorosèt de la filha del rei Bebrix: quand aquela foguèt tuada per de herums de la sèlva, apitèt un enòrme clapàs com sepultura que forman los Pirenèus.
