Escanderbeg
Jòrdi[1] Castriòta dich Escanderbeg (1405 - 17 de genièr de 1468) nasquèt a Krujë, en Albania, de Gjon Kastrioti, senhor de l'Albania mejana, que foguèt obligat pels Otomans de pagar un tribut a l'Empèri. Per s'assegurar de la leialtat de sos dirigents regionals, lo soudan aviá costuma de prene lors enfants en ostatge e de los elevar a la cort otomana. En 1423, Gjergj Kastrioti e sos tres fraires foguèron emmenats pels turcs. Faguèt l'escòla militara de l'Empèri Otoman e ganhèt mantuna victòria militara en Euròpa pel compte de l'Empèri. Recebèt alara lo títol d'Iskander Bey, çò que significa en turc «Prince Alexandre» (en onor d'Alexandre lo Grand), occidentalizat en Escanderbeg. En albanés, lo tèrme es vengut Skënderbeu.
