Los Innus o Ilnus (ancianament Montagnais), fan partit de las Primièras Nacions originàrias de l’èst de la peninsula de Quebèc-Labrador, mai precisament de las regions de la Côte-Nord e de Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean al Quebèc e de la region de Labrador a Tèrranòva e Labrador[1].
Lo tèrme Innu ven de la lenga innu-aimun, e significa "èsser uman"[2]. Aquel nom foguèt oficialament adoptat en 1990 per remplaçar lo tèrme « Montagnais » balhat pels primièrs exploradors franceses. Los Innus designan son territòri ancestral per Nitassinan.
En 2016, òm estimava son nombre a mai de 27 755, siá mai de 25 275 al Quebèc despartits dins 11 bandas e mai de 2 480 en Labrador en doas bandas.
