Lewis Swift
Lewis A. Swift (Clarkson, Nòva York (USA), 29 de febrièr de 1820 – 5 de genièr de 1913), foguèt un astronòm american.
Descobriguèt nombrosas cometas, coma las cometas periodicas 11P/Tempel-Swift-LINEAR, 64P/Swift-Gehrels e 109P/Swift-Tuttle (font de la pluèja d'estelas dels Perseids). Descobriguèt tanben las cometas C/1877 G2, C/1878 N1, C/1879 M1, C/1881 J1, C/1881 W1, C/1892 E1, D/1895 Q1, C/1896 G1 et C/1899 E1, e codescobriguèt C/1883 D1 (Brooks-Swift). Cal pasmens senhalar que la cometa 54P/de Vico-Swift-NEAT foguèt descoberta per son filh Edward D. Swift e pas per el.
Descobriguèt sa darrièra cometa a l'atge de 79 ans. Foguèt una de las escassas personas de poder observar la cometa de Halley durant sas doas aparicions, a 76 ans de distància.
