Segon Dauzat, Moishan que veng deu nom latin d'òme Mustius o *Muscius (considerat com inatestat) dab lo sufixe -anum [7].
Segon Negre, Moishan que vengueré deu nom « romanic » de persona Muscianus, shens sufixe [8].
Per Moissac, comparable a Moishan, Burgan e Lafon que precisan [sty] e [sky] mia a s, mes sol [sky] desvolopa un i abans. Qu'adòptan donc Muscius, probablament derivat de musca « mosca », qui existeish com nom d'òme Musca [9].
