Lo neodimi es un element quimic de la taula periodica, de simbòl Nd e de nombre atomic 60. Es un metal gris argentat de la familha dels lantanids. Lo neodimi foguèt descobèrt en 1885 pel quimist austriac Carl Auer von Welsbach. Es present en quantitats significativas dins los minerals coma la monazita e la bastnasita. Lo neodimi se tròba pas a l'estat natural sos forma pura metallica non mesclat als autres lantanids, e generalament deu èsser rafinat. E mai que lo neodimi siá classat dins las tèrras raras, es un element fòrça comun, pas pus rar que lo cobalt, lo niquèl, o lo coire, e es largament espandit dins la crosta terrèstra. La majoritat del neodimi mondial ven de minas chinesas.
