Nicolas Chuquet
Nicolas Chuquet (entre 1445 e 1455, París - 1488, Lion) es un matematician francés de la fin dau sègle XV. Installat dins la vila de Lion a partir de 1480, es famós per sei tractats matematics. Lo pus important es Triparty en la science des nombres, publicat en 1484, que presenta lo concèpte de nombre (compres lo zèro e lei nombres negatius), lei racinas e de trabalhs que prefiguran lo logaritme. Intègra tanben l'escritura x0 = 1 e de consideracions sus l'escritura dei grands nombres. L'escala lònga de notacions d'aquelei nombres es ansin de còps dicha « escala de Chuquet ».
