Operacion Compass
L'Operacion Compass se debanèt dins lo corrent de la Segonda Guèrra Mondiala dau 8 de decembre de 1940 au 9 de febrier de 1941. Premiera ofensiva aliada sus lo frònt nòrd-african, foguèt menada per lei tropas dau Reiaume Unit e de sei dependéncias (36 000 òmes, 275 carris e 120 canons). L'objectiu britanic èra de reconquistar lei territòris perduts en setembre de 1940 e d'intrar en Libia. Leis Italians (150 000 òmes, 600 carris e 1 600 canons) foguèron desbordats e la màger part de seis unitats foguèt enceuclada.
L'operacion s'acabèt per un succès clar dei Britanics que perdiguèron solament 1 900 òmes (500 tuats, 55 dispareguts, 1 373 bleçats e 15 avions). De son caire, l'armada italiana perdiguèt 118 000 òmes (3 000 tuats e 115 000 presoniers) e una gròssa quantitat de materiaus (400 carris, 1 292 canons e 1 249 avions). Pasmens, l'avançada aliada foguèt arrestada dins lo sector d'El Agheila car plusors unitats foguèron prelevadas per constituir lo còrs expedicionari britanic en Grècia.
