Roman lo Melode ò Roman l'Imnograf (vèrs 493 - après 555) foguèt un monge, un imnograf e un poèta bizantin. Es considerat coma l'imnograf pus important dau sègle VI. Es tanben un sant dei Glèisas Catolica e Ortodoxa.
Sa vida es mau coneguda en causa de la manca de documents. Nasquèt probablament dins una familha judieva d'Emèsi en Siria. Foguèt batejat durant sa jovença per de rasons desconegudas (benlèu dins l'encastre d'una conversion de tota ò d'una partida de sa familha). Per la seguida, venguèt diague de la glèisa de Beirot puei sacrestan de Santa Sofia a Constantinòple.
