Russell Ira Crowe es un actor, realizator, productor de cinèma e musician neozelandés, nascut lo 7 d'abril de 1964 a Wellington.
Après aver començat sa carrièra en Austràlia, la perseguèt als Estats Units amb lo polar L.A. Confidential (1997), de Curtis Hanson e subretot Revelacions (1999), de Michael Mann, que li valguèt la nominacion a l'Oscar del melhor actor. Remportèt l'estatueta l'an seguent per sa performança dins lo peplum Gladiator, que marquèt tanben lo retorn del realizator Ridley Scott. Confirmèt dins un registre mai realista l'an seguent en incarnar lo matematician John Forbes Nash Jr. dins lo biopic Un òme d'excepcion, de Ron Howard, que li valguèt tornarmai una nominacion a l'Oscar de melhor actor.
