Classificacion
Per Nurse e Philippson (2003), lo ruwund fa partida d'un grop lunda amb lo lunda e lo salampasu[2].
Fonologia
La particularitat del ruwund es que los mots acaban amb una consonanta o un [u], al contrari de la norma de las lengas bantos o un mot deu acabar amb una estructura silabica -(C)CV[3],[4]. Exemples comparats entre lo luba e lo ruwund:
