Tux
Tux es lo nom de la mascòta oficiala del nuclèu Linux. Creat per Larry Ewing en 1996, es un pichon pingoïn d'aspècte risolet e comic. L'idèa que la mascòta de Linux siaga un pingoïn ven del meteis Linus Torvalds, creator de Linux. Segon çò que se conta, quand èra mainatge un pingoïn lo mosseguèt, e ne'n resultèt l'idèa simpatica d'associar aqueste animal al seu projècte.
Existisson doas versions sobre l'origina de son nom. La primièra suggeris que lo nom ven del fach de que los pingoïns semblan èsser vestits d'un esmoquin (que en anglés es tuxedo max, abreviat tux). La segonda es que las letras que compausan Tux venon del nom de Torvalds e Linus.
