Val
Una val (var. vau, vath)[1] es una depression alongada de la superfícia terrèstra percorreguda generalament per un cors d'aiga. Las vals se forman per l'accion de l'erosion del riu al fons de la clusa e per la meteorizacion mecanica que li dònan la forma caracteristica en V o triangulara. Una val glaciària, per contra, es pus redonda e sembla una U. Las vals son estadas de luòcs privilegiats pels poblaments umans, pr'amor qu'an d'aiga accessibla e son protegidas per las montanhas que las enròdan. Per aquò lo mot val es present dins fòrça toponims actuals: Vals; Vaubòna, Valclara, Vauclusa, Valescura, Vaufreja, Vathmala, etc.
