Vius[1],[2],[3],[4] (Vieux en francés) es una comuna lengadociana situada dins lo departament de Tarn e de la region d'Occitània, ancianament de Miègjorn-Pirenèus.

Toponimia
Las atestacions son Viantium, al sègle VI, Viancio en 961, Viaus en 1259, Viousso en 1382, Vieucio en 1444. Lo nom sembla venir de *viantium, mot de bas-latin derivat de viare, « viatjar », ambe lo sens d'« estacion, relai » [5],[6]. Lo començament de l'evolucion a partir de *Vianç- es una vocalizacion de -n en -u davant [-s], coma per exemple a Confolèuç < *Confolenç.

Administracion
- Abans la refòrma cantonala de 2014, aplicada en 2015, la comuna èra del canton de Castèlnòu de Montmiralh; es ara del canton de Vignobles et Bastides (en francés), donc de Vinhals e Bastidas.
