Samuel Elbert, * 1740, † 1. november 1788.
Samuel Elbert je bil ameriški častnik, trgovec, plantažnik, lastnik sužnjev,[4] in politik iz Savannah,Georgia.
Elbert se je boril v revolucionarni vojni, kjer je 19. aprila 1778 poveljeval zmagovitim ameriškim kolonialnim silam v pomorski bitki blizu otoka St. Simons, Georgia. Naslednje leto je bil ranjen in ujet v bitki pri Brier Creeku, čeprav je ponovno dobil svobodo v izmenjavi ujetnikov. V georgijski milici je napredoval v čin generalmajorja.[5] in polkovnika v kontinentalni vojski.[6].[7] Po koncu vojne je bil povišan v brigadnega generala. Samuel Elbert je bil eden prvih članov Družbe Cincinnatija zvezne države Georgia.[8] in polkovnik v kontinentalni vojski.[9] Leta 1784 je bil izvoljen v Kongres Združenih držav, vendar je zavrnil služenje, ker se ni menil za fizično sposobnega za to nalogo. Kasneje je nekaj časa opravljal funkcijo guverner Georgije.
Elbert je bil prostozidar. Njegovo ime se pojavlja na prostozidarskih seznamih članov Salomonove lože št. 1 v Savannahi iz leta 1779[10] skupaj z Jamesom Jacksonom, guvernerjem Johnom A. Treutlenom in Archibaldom Bullochom. Elbert je leta 1785 služil tudi kot zadnji provincialni veliki mojster prve angleške provincialne velike lože Georgie.
