Argyra là một chi ruồi thuộc họ Dolichopodidae.[5] Tên gọi Argyra bắt nguồn từ tiếng Hy Lạp cổ đại có nghĩa là "màu bạc", dùng để chỉ lớp phấn phủ màu bạc xuất hiện trên cơ thể các cá thể đực của nhiều loài trong chi này.[6]
