Atlatlia là một chi ruồi thuộc họ Dolichopodidae.[1] Ban đầu, chi này được khởi xứng dựa trên hai loài đượcphát hiện tại các khu rừng bạch đàn ở Úc. Về sau, chi tiếp tục được mở rộng để bao gồm loài thứ ba ở Úc, ba loài ở Nouvelle-Calédonie và một số loài đã tuyệt chủng được tìm thấy trong hổ phách Baltic và hổ phách Bitterfeld có niên đại từ kỷ Paleogen. Sự xuất hiện của các loài thuộc chi Atlatlia trong hổ phách Baltic/Bitterfeld cho thấy chi này từng có phạm vi phân bố rộng hơn nhiều trong quá khứ.[2]
