Demetera là một chi ruồi thuộc họ Dolichopodidae. Chi này bao gồm 8 loài từng được xếp vào chi Medetera thuộc nhóm loài M. melanesiana. Các loài trong chi phân bố tại các giới Cổ nhiệt đới, Đông Dương và Australasia.[1] Tuy nhiên, theo Naglis và Bickel (2012), việc tách nhóm loài này ra để thiết lập một chi riêng là không có cơ sở vững chắc.[2]
