Epithalassius là một chi ruồi thuộc họ Dolichopodidae,[2] gồm 8 loài đã biết. Các loài trong chi này chủ yếu phân bố ở giới Cổ Bắc và thường sống trên các bãi cát ven biển.[3] Ngoại lệ duy nhất là loài E. africus, vốn được mô tả từ một mẫu vật con cái bị hư hại thu thập gần Brazzaville ở Cộng hòa Congo; tuy nhiên, việc xếp loài có phân bố tại châu Phi này vào chi Epithalassius hiện vẫn còn nghi vấn.[4] Bên cạnh đó, loài E. corsicanus cũng từng được ghi nhận tại đảo Saint Helena thuộc Đại Tây Dương, nhiều khả năng do được du nhập vào hòn đảo này.[3]
