Heteropsilopus là một chi ruồi thuộc họ Dolichopodidae.[1]
Phân bố
Chi Heteropsilopus được chia thành ba nhóm loài: nhóm triligatus phân bố ở miền nam Ấn Độ và Sri Lanka, cùng hai nhóm cingulipes và brevicornis phân bố tại miền nam Úc và Tasmania. Các loài ở Ấn Độ và Úc có nhiều điểm tương đồng về hình thái. Việc chia Heteropsilopus thành hai nhóm Úc và Ấn Độ chủ yếu mang tính thuận tiện về mặt địa lý hơn là dựa trên sự khác biệt rõ rệt về hình thái.[2]
Sự phân bố đứt đoạn của Heteropsilopus tại Úc và Ấn Độ cho thấy chi này từng phân bố rộng rãi trên lục địa phía đông Gondwana vào kỷ Phấn Trắng sớm.
Tại Ấn Độ, chi này chỉ xuất hiện ở các vùng núi cao trên 900 m thuộc khu vực địa hình Ghat Tây, và hoàn toàn không tìm thấy ở vùng đồng bằng.[3]
