Manidens là một chi khủng long đã tuyệt chủng từ giữa kỉ Jura, được Pol Rauhut & Becerra mô tả khoa học năm 2011.[1]
Từ nguyên
Loài điển hình của Manidens, Manidens condorensis, được mô tả trên tạp chí Naturwissenschaften năm 2011. Manidens được đặt tên bởi Diego Pol, Oliver Rauhut và Marcos Becerra. Tên chi này xuất phát từ tiếng Latinh manus.
Cổ sinh vật học
Hóa thạch của Manidens được phát hiện tại Argentina cho thấy loài này có chân thích nghi để bám và leo trèo. Các mẫu vật bao gồm các xương chân sau và vài đốt sống đuôi, được gán cho Manidens từ địa điểm hóa thạch. Ngón chân cái nhỏ hơn các ngón còn lại nhưng vẫn có khả năng cầm nắm. Phân tích cấu trúc chân cho thấy Manidens có những đặc điểm tương tự chân của các loài chim biết bay và đậu trên cây.
