Medetera truncorum là một loài ruồi thuộc họ Dolichopodidae. Loài này phân bố rộng rãi tại vùng Tây giới Cổ Bắc.[1][2][3] Ngoài ra, chúng cũng xuất hiện tại khu vực Tây Bắc Thái Bình Dương thuộc Bắc Mỹ, nơi nhiều khả năng chúng là một loài ngoại lai du nhập.[4]
Trong công trình phân loại sửa đổi chi Medetera ở giới Tân Bắc của Bickel (1985), M. truncorum được xếp vào nhóm loài diadema-veles.[4]
